RaeAnn and I had a great view of the wedding tonight...from the cry room at the church. It was actually really nice to get to see and hear what was going on during the wedding without having to worry about how loud our kids were being or if they were sitting still. It made the wedding a little more enjoyable!
The reception was beautiful. It was great to see Brice and Megan so happy and in love! My camera died before the reception began, so these pictures are ones that RaeAnn took and I downloaded from Kodak Gallery (meaning if you click on them they won't be any bigger b/c I couldn't download the picture...just the preview from KG).
It was just a little difficult to keep the kids entertained for the 4+ hours that we were at the reception. Somehow RaeAnn and I ended up at the table right next to the kitchen door. This meant that there was some open space on the floor that the kids thought was perfect for running around. We found out very quickly that this was not a good idea...unless you want to trip up the kitchen staff and cause them to spill what's on their tray. Thankfully, our kids didn't make anyone spill...but there were a few trips. Barrett, on the other hand, did manage to spill an entire glass of water on himself. I don't know what the waiter was thinking when he set full, adult size glasses down in front of two 1-year olds and two 3-year olds!
It was fun to get to see so many people from Lyons. RaeAnn and I both miss working together and working with Junior. It was fun to catch up.
RaeAnn, Brice, & Staci
Brody was very excited when he was finally able to go play on the dance floor. Before all the adults started dancing, it was just kids out there. He took off his socks and did his best Tom Cruise impression. Kyler, Brice's nephew, was showing off his moves and held this pose for about 2 minutes while I tried to figure out RaeAnn's flash!
Barrett was getting really tired, but he still wanted to get out on the dance floor. He mainly just walked around like a zombie!
Torrey worked for us at the rec commission during the summers for many years alongside Brice. It was great to get to meet his girlfriend, Staci!
Marv and Junior...proud parents.
Besides the dance floor, Brody's favorite part of the reception was the kiddie dessert bar. There were huge parfait bowls of gummy bears, M&M's, hot tamales, and snack mix. Before we left, Brody filled up his cup with more gummy bears. Maybe this is why he had trouble falling asleep?
After RaeAnn and I loaded the kids in our cars, we stood in the parking lot and talked for about 5 minutes. We were laughing as we realized that we caught up more in that 5 minutes than we did during the entire wedding/reception! There's just something easier about having a serious conversation when there's not 4 little kids running around.
When we got back to the hotel I noticed that Barrett felt a little hot. His temp was 100.2. Arg. Maybe that's why he wasn't very energetic at the wedding? I'm really hoping that it's not the swine flu. The Riffel's little boy has it (and we ran into him this morning) and now Chelsea (their daughter) has it too (they were both in the wedding party). Surely he couldn't contract it that fast...right? Maybe it's just a cold? I guess only time will tell. Brody's asleep on his pallet on the floor (finally) and I should go to sleep too. I'm praying that Barrett will sleep tonight!
