Stayin' Alive

I made it! I'm finally coming out of the fog of that terrible sickness.

Sunday I left the house for the first time to go to church. The sky looked so blue and the sun so bright! I took a deep breath...and started coughing. So maybe I wasn't totally well yet...but 2 & 3 year olds don't seem to notice when you lead the Sunday school songs an octave lower than normal :)

Yesterday it was back to work and after a good night's sleep last night...I'm feeling even better today. I fell asleep last night on the couch and was kinda upset with myself when I woke up to see that it was 10:15. I had missed bidding on an auction on eBay! I could've gotten a really cute pair of khaki maternity pants for $2.99 + $5 shipping! Oh, well. Now I just get to search all over again.

I felt the need to add a picture to today's post. This is a picture that Mike took of a marmot on our way off the summitt of Mt. Yale last summer. I just love the picture because the marmot's stopping, perched on top of a rock, just enjoying the view.

Ode to NyQuil

Oh, NyQuil how I miss you
You made sleep so sweet.
I see you in the cabinet and know I must resist you
Because of the baby growing in me.

Please stop calling my name!
I know that sleep will come.
For now I must shut the cabinet door
and run, Run, RUN! Posted by Picasa

Cowboy Baby

So yesterday (while I was sleeping/coughing on the couch) the mail lady pulled up to the house with a package for me. I just LOVE getting packages. It was a birthday present from Caleb & Audria. I loved the maternity shirt they sent me, but the cutest thing was tucked underneath the shirt. A pair of 0-3 month cowboy boots! The card said that "the boots are to make sure your baby is always a cowboy! Yee-haw!"

I'm still home sick today. I'm hoping that lots of sleep and lots of fluids will heal me. The doctor said that since I'm pregnant, all I can take is Tylenol, Sudafed, and cough drops. I did discover a new drink this morning. You'll have to try it some time. I mixed together orange juice and black cherry fresca. Yumm!

I'm headed back to la-la land! Posted by Picasa

Hack*Cough*Hack* AAACHOOO

Have you ever had one of those mornings where you feel like you've been run over by an 18-wheeler? That's me today.

Yesterday I had a dry cough, congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes. This morning I woke up with a cough that resonated so deep in my chest I think it's really the baby coughing! I keep getting into coughing fits that are so hard that I end up gagging! Ugh!

People in the gym keep coming into my office and asking me if I'm ok. I respond in a very raspy, deep voice, "I'll live."

I'm supposed to teach aerobics this morning at 9:00. I'm thinking that's not gonna happen. I can see it now:
"Repeater Knee, Over the Top, Right Basic,
Cough, cough, hack, cough, gag, cough, (wipe eyes, blow nose)
Where were we now?"

Maybe I'll go home early, fix a big mug of hot cider, and eat an apple (Dad told me last night that eating an apple will help scrape all the stuff off the back of my throat).

Birthday

Ok...so I haven't really gotten in the hang of blogging yet. I still haven't figured out how to post links. I'll have to get Mike to show me sometime...

Today I turn 26! I actually forgot it was my birthday until I got to work and found an email from Grandmommy & Daddy Ken wishing me Happy Birthday. I think this is the first time every that I've not woken up excited about it being my birthday.

Mike called me this morning to tell me that he's cooking dinner for me. He asked what I wanted to eat. I think it's dangerous to tell a hungry pregnant woman that you'll cook her whatever she wants for dinner! Here's my menu:
Juicy, tender, melt in your mouth steak
Fried Okra
Corn-on-the-cob
Mashed Potatoes
Buttermilk Biscuits
Oreo/Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Dessert

He just called to say he's on his way home from the grocery store. I can hardly wait!!

1st Timer

I've been thinking of starting a blog for some time now. I kept putting it off. Mike and I were trying to get pregnant (without anyone knowing) and it was on my mind a lot. I didn't know if I'd have enough other things to talk about!

On December 8th we found out that we're pregnant and due August 17, 2006! So after a little persuasion from Megan (the ultimate blogger)...I've begun the journey.

I'm so glad that Mike is a computer guy. It was taking me forever to figure out how to post a picture until he came into the room. He showed me how to get a picture up in a matter of seconds!

So, bear with me. My blog is definately not going to look as professional as some, but I'm taking the first step and starting!
