Trip for a Ride - Monday in KS

Mike has wanted a Jeep Wrangler for years.  Over the past few months it became more of a reality than just a dream.  We discovered that there's no way to fit 3 carseats in the back of our Hyundai Sonata (which we'll need to do when we, hopefully, have a new baby), so we went test driving.  Sure enough, the Jeeps have plenty of room for 3 carseats in the back!  There were several Jeeps that we tried to buy locally, but the deals fell through.  One day Mike emailed me a picture of a Jeep and told me to take note of the location.  It was located in Hutchinson, KS!  That's the "big city" that we went to when we lived in KS...where we thought people were crazy for buying a car there and that they should go to a "real" big city to get a better deal.  Believe it or not, Hutchinson had the best deal on a Jeep!  After several days of negotiations over the phone, we agreed on a price and the plans were set in motion for a road trip.

Monday morning I was up at 4:30 am and was on the road with the boys by 5:00 am.  (Mike had to work and didn't get to go with us.)  The boys were so excited about getting a Jeep that they didn't go back to sleep!  I had assumed they would sleep for a few more hours in the car (considering that Barrett doesn't usually wake up until 8 or 8:30 am)...but no such luck.  We stopped every few hours for potty breaks (Barrett stayed dry the whole trip!  I was so proud of him!!!) and arrived in Hutchinson in the pouring rain around 1 pm.

After about an hour and a half at the dealership, we said goodbye to our Sonata (they gave us a good deal on a trade in) and headed towards Grammy's house.  I was surprised that Barrett wasn't ready to get out of the Jeep when we got to her house.  Then I realized why.....
He wanted to drive!  He loves to "drive" and I guess he'd really been looking forward to "driving" the Jeep with as much as Mike has been talking to the boys about Jeeps over the last few months.

We played outside for a while with sidewalk chalk and then headed to the park.
When it was time for bed, the boys didn't protest!  Typically they stay up talking and laughing for an hour or more when I try to have them sleep in the same room.  I guess waking up 3 hours early and skipping their afternoon naps eliminated their need to talk.  Within 5 minutes they were out!
