Fireplace

I planned on doing a post about the fireplace. I didn't realize so many of you would notice it in the last post! Mike did an amazing job on our fireplace. Here's a picture of what it looked like before (at Christmas time). Here's a picture of the installed firebox:
This is what it looked like when Dad & Mom got here on Thursday night:
By the end of Saturday, Mike put the finishing touches on the fireplace. Now all that's left is for me to stain the wood and for him to install the access door (the hole on the front) that will allow access to the propane shut-off valve.

Mike is a very talented craftsman who is not afraid to tackle any job. The fireplace not only looks beautiful but it is very functional. Good job, Mike!

Mike, is there anything you cannot do? That fireplace is a super addition to your living room. I know you will enjoy it.

Wow! It looks so fantastic! Can Mike come redo our fireplace? I really want to change out the tile. :)

Wow! The fireplace is beautiful - no cabin is complete without one!

It looks great! I love corner fireplaces. What happened to the corn stove?

Audria - The corn stove is sitting in our shop right now. We'll sell it. There's an ethanol plant being built near by that will probably help keep corn prices high in our area. The new fireplace is more efficient and economical. The corn stove will be a good buy for a farmer (who gets his corn for free!)
