We drove and drove and drove. For the most part, the boys did awesome! In fact, they were doing so well that we decided to push thru Oklahoma City and wait to eat lunch on the other side. We soon discovered the error in this decision. I told Brody earlier that we'd eat lunch at a McDonald's with a playground once we got thru OKC. What we didn't realize was that NONE of the McDonald's along the highway past OKC have playgrounds! What were the McDonald's franchises thinking?!? After deciding not to drive out of the way to Stillwater (the only Micky D's with a playground according to McDonald's employees) we gave in and stopped at a Brahms. We convinced Brody that this was a good alternative because they have ice cream. They also had a large field out back that was perfect for letting the boys run around and expend some energy. Mike got out the football and he and Brody played a game while Barrett watched (and chased after them).
Not long after lunch both boys sacked out for a nap. This helped the last few hours pass quicker (for them at least).
The boys woke up just before we got to Hutchinson where we stopped at Wal-Mart to get Mike a Federal duck stamp (for hunting).
We arrived at Chris & Teri's house in Sterling just in time for dinner! Everyone was excited. Our boys were excited to be out of the car and were ready to play. Their kids were excited to have little kids to play with. Chis & Mike were excited about all the time they had planned to hunt in the next few days. Teri and I were excited to get to spend some time together. Mike and I were both very excited to be done with the 8+ hour trip...at least for today!
What we didn't count on was how Brody's tummy would react to all this excitement. We finally got all the kids to bed (after putting meds in Barrett's goopy eye...we're praying it's not pink eye) and were sitting in the living room talking when we heard it. The sound of someone throwing up. Teri and I both hurried down the hall and found Brody standing in their bathroom (carpeted bathroom, unfortunately). He started hugging my leg and saying, "I tried to make it to the potty, Mommy. I just didn't make it!" I stripped his clothes off of him, hugged him for a few minutes, and then passed him off to Mike so that I could help Teri start cleaning up. Thankfully he didn't feel bad again. I'm guessing it was just all the excitement?
Needless to say, the caramel apple pie that I brought to Chris & Teri's went untouched tonight.

I agree with Caleb- SO cute the way they're both sleeping with their head tilted the same way! Sorry to hear about Brody's tummy :(
