Water Logged

Tyler and Ann went to Houston this weekend to visit some friends.  They got a call from their neighbor on their way home tonight.  The neighbor said that water was pouring out from under their front door and garage door!  He shut off the water at the street...but the damage was already done.  Mike, Caleb, and the boys went over to help move furniture out of the house as soon as they got the call from Tyler (who was still about an hour from home...Mom, Audria, and I were at a shower for Carl & Tricia and were unaware all of this was happening until we got home).  It looks like it'll be several weeks (minimum) before Tyler and Ann will be able to live in their house again.  Not exactly the way you want to spend your Christmas holiday!  They're trying to stay positive.  At least they'll get the new carpet they were wanting!

Please keep them (and their sanity/stress levels) in your prayers!

What caused the water to be overflowing? Was it sewage? Was it a busted pipe? Do they have flood insurance? I remember the time (wasn't it) your aunt and uncle went on a trip somewhere out of the country and their house flooded....found by their son, wasn't it? That turned out good for them in the long run, didn't it? My memory isn't what it used to be, so if you can remember the whole story, or if you mom and dad can, if they haven't already told them that story, tell it. That should help. Misery loves company. Tell them our sewer just backed up into our tubs a couple of weeks ago. Of course, we had no damage....we were here....called the plumber and $500 later, the city is responsible for clearing the pipes, which they haven't done yet....just marked the yard for digging. I will be praying for their sanity, for sure. They don't need the added stress.

It was a pipe in the guestbathroom that goes from the wall to the toilet. We left after work on Friday night and came home on Sunday night, so it must have happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
We do have insurance, they're in the process of drying out the house right now, at the moment all of the carpet is ripped out, baseboards & drywall (about 2-3 feet up the wall) is ripped out... so it's like a compelte remodel! We have yet to see if they have to rip out the tile & cabinets, we'll know more once our contractor comes out to look.
It's quite a mess, the good thing is that we have insurance who is covering it all and our furniture can be fixed/replaced.
Thanks for the prayers about the stress level/sanity- we're doing well!
